Festival Overview

BBC Arabic Festival is committed to bringing bold voices, telling unique and original stories about the Arab world to a London audience. The Festival’s live element is enhanced by post-screening discussions and audience Q&A’s with the directors themselves, alongside BBC journalists and experts in the field. Selected films from the programme are also aired on BBC Arabic TV to its international, Arabic-speaking audience of 28 million people.

Awards

The festival runs as a competition. The final list of submissions will be announced in February 2017. It will be chosen by a panel of judges comprised of award-winning documentary and film makers, critics and experts from the fields of film and journalism.

All winners and awardees will be announced at the BBC Arabic Festival closing ceremony.

Open to the public

Eligibility:
Anyone is eligible to enter regardless of background, professional level or geographic base. If you are a film or documentary maker, producer, journalist or a member of the public and have made a piece of work (a film, documentary or journalism piece) that explores key issues around power in the Arab world since the uprisings, we would like to hear from you. Formats:
We accept video work of all formats, and we encourage filmmakers using both high and lo-fi equipment to submit their stories.
Our 'reportage' category in particular welcomes all formats. For this category, amateurs are strongly encouraged and we accept .movs and MP4's.
We accept H.264, BlueRay and DCP
