Established in 2005, the NYTVF is a pioneer of the independent television movement, constructing new and innovative paths of development and talent identification, while simultaneously complementing the traditional television development model. Its annual New York Television Festival - held each fall in New York City - is recognized as the industry's first independent television festival which provides a platform to elevate the work of artists creating for the small screen. Through the Festival and other year-round activities, the NYTVF's mission is to connect its community of over 8,500 independent creative artists with leading networks, studios and brands by cultivating relationships that lead to new opportunities. For more information on the NYTVF, the annual Festival and these competitions, visit www.nytvf.com.
The NYTVF launched in 2005 as the preeminent platform for independent television. The Festival's Independent Pilot Competition gives producers and content creators the chance to showcase original ideas for new TV series directly to the decision-makers in the industry.
Since its first year, the Festival has received hundreds of original pilots from independent producers and has helped them get deals with major networks, official representation, and industry recognition.
By submitting to any NYTVF competition or initiative, your project may be eligible for a Festival Development Deal from a selection of partners including IFC, MTV, CW, TRUTV, VH1, UK's CH4, BET, and more. IPC Official Selections are also eligible for the competition's category and individual achievement awards.
Open to the public
Programs created or funded by broadcast networks, cable networks or major production studios are ineligible to compete in the Independent Pilot Competition but may be submitted to the NYTVF for consideration as a specialty screening.
The NYTVF accepts independently produced television pilots in all categories and genres, both scripted and unscripted, live-action and animated.
