Festival Overview

KAN's main goal is to promote independent film art and independent film artists--people, who in a couple of years will be the pillars of the contemporary Polish and world cinematography. That is why KAN is not just the 5 days of the Finals. It is a Festival which lasts the whole year--thanks to Special Screenings which are held in different places in Poland, Europe, and in the whole World.

The prizes are: Golden, Silver and Brown KANewka's, awarded by the Jury. In addition, the films compete for the Jury's Special KANewka, Audience KANewka, and Journalist's KANewka.

The statues are acommpany with the cash awards.

Open to the public

All films, regardless of their theme and technique, will be considered (but remember - films longer than 30 minutes may not be accepted).

We will select around 80-90 films that will screen during the Finals in May next year. The finalists will be then judged by the , and will compete for our prizes - KANewkas (with the accompanying honours, financial awards or awards in kind).

Your film should be in DVD-PAL format, with English subtitles on by default and without the introductory menu
