The Edmonton International Film Festival is a platform that celebrates unique, independent stories told by passionate people producing films in Canada and around the globe. Having presented over 60 feature films and 45 short films in past schedules, this annual autumn event is sure to become a cinematic highlight of the Canadian film circuit for audiences and filmmakers alike. As you read this festival organizers are scouring the planet, looking for the most highly entertaining films, experienced filmmakers, and passionate speakers so that audiences in Edmonton and surrounding area can see, hear and breathe a fascinating 9 days of film festival.
This is a festival with a rich 20+ year history and a loyal following of thousands that continues to grow with each passing year. Previously branded 'Local Heroes', festivities took place each March. Known as the Edmonton International Film Festival since 2004, and moved to a new autumn timeslot - when Mother Nature is much kinder - the festival is now in-line with the existing Canadian film circuit, making accessibility to films (and filmmakers)a whole lot easier.
