Festival Overview

CINANIMA proudly presents to all the animation lovers a diverse and vanguard programme. Besides the International Competitive Section, the festival comprises also numerous activities, such as of workshops, debates, masterclasses, exhibitions, tours, special screenings and retrospectives.
CINANIMA is well known for providing to its guests and the audience, in general, a pleasant, relaxed and familiar atmosphere helping the guests to bond and work in networks. Espinho, the city that welcomes the festival every year, is a small seaside resort, located 17kms south of Oporto and it is the perfect framing for one of the most ancient animation festivals in the world.

The International Jury will have the following prizes at their disposal:
a) GRAND PRIZE CINANIMA 2018 - Short Films / Award City of Espinho
Granted by the International Jury to the Best Film in CINANIMA.

b) JURY'S SPECIAL PRIZE
Granted by the International Jury according to their own criteria.

c) GRAND PRIZE CINANIMA 2018 - Best Student Film.
Granted by the International Jury nominated for this Award.

d) GRAND PRIZE CINANIMA 2018 - Best Feature Film
Granted by the International Jury nominated for this Award.

c) PRIZE FOR THE BEST FILM IN THE OTHER CATEGORIES
Granted by the International according to their own criteria.

D) YOUNG PORTUGUESE DIRECTOR AWARD

Eligibility:

The Organising Committee will only accept films
directed according to the definition of animation given by ASIFA:
"The art of animation is the creation of moving images through the
manipulation of all varieties of techniques apart from live action
methods".
Only films completed after the 1st of January of the preceding year and that haven't been submitted yet may enter the Festival. .

mov (H.264, Pro Res 422 or Pro Res 444)
.avi (uncompressed)
.mp4 (H.264 - native resolution and frame rate
