Festival Overview

The 53rd Annual WorldFest-Houston is the oldest Independent Film & Video Festival in the world. Founded in 1961, its mission statement is "to Validate Creative Excellence." WorldFest is unique in the festival world as it has 12 major competition categories, unlike most festivals which have 2 categories. WorldFest strives to discover new independent film making talents in all areas and has done so successfully for 53 years. Entries open August 15th 2019, the EarlyBird Discount Deadline is November 15th 2019, and the Main Entry Deadline is December 15th, 2019. WorldFest discovered - with their first awards; Spielberg, George Lucas, Ang Lee, the Coen Brothers, Randal Kleiser, Oliver Stone, Francis Ford Coppola, David Lynch and hundreds more! You might be the next Spielberg or Ang Lee of tomorrow at WorldFest 53!

Awards

The Grand Remi Award, best in category.
Special Jury Remi Awards, Platinum, Gold, Silver & Bronze Remi Awards. (The Remi Award takes its name from Frederic Remington, who captured the spirit of Texas and the West with his brilliant paintings and sculptures.) The Remi Awards are presented at the Awards Gala on the closing Weekend. WorldFest-Houston is the only film festival in the whole wide world that judges your entry and gives it a score/grade! Your award is based on that score! A 96+ is a Special Jury Award and is considered for the Grand Remi. A 92-95 is a Platinum Remi, an 90-91 is a Gold Remi, an 85 to 89 score yields a Silver Remi and a 80 to 84 is a Bronze Remi. Films that score under 80 points do not win a Remi Award. We think this is the most fair jury process in the film festival world as it is impossible to pick only three winners per category!
