Festival Overview

Although there are many sub-genres of dance on camera, SFDFF seeks to highlight what is most commonly referred to as "screendance". These short experimental dance pieces are created specifically for the camera, independent from the traditional stage. Interpretations can range from narratives to collages of music, movement and images, sometimes including the use of animation and other new media. The festival also screens short and long-form dance documentaries.
