Festival Overview

A new short film festival in Russia. Its location is a unique place on the Baltic coast in the offshore region, Kaliningrad. It's a part of Russia that is separated from the rest of the country, and surrounded by the EU. Before the second world war the city was called Koenigsberg, it's the birthplace of a famous philosopher Immanuil Kant, from its coastal line 95% of the world's amber comes. The region was called by the Russian president, the pioneering region in relations with the west.
It's a short film festival, which is called Koroche, which means something like "make a great short film, we give you the money for a feature". The biggest professionals from the russian film industry are supporting it, as well as the Ministry of Culture and the Regional representative of the apparatus of the president of Russia. The idea is to vacuum clean Russia in search of the hidden talent. We are working with all the 83 regions of the biggest country in the world to discover new talent.
There will also be an international competition programme and out of competition screenings: the best of Miami short film festival, Futureshorts-summer selection, Kinematic shorts, the best of Russian animation from Suzdal festival, the best of VGIK film-school works etc. The first prize is 7.000. The money will go for the next work of the winners. The deadline to apply is the 20th of july 2016. You can download your film directly to www.korochekino.ru
