Festival Overview

As the oldest genre festival in the US is now in its 44th iteration. The Boston Science Fiction Film Festival. aka BostonSciFi or SF44, is an 11-day cinematic event held at the historic Somerville Theatre from February 8th to the 18th.

The first nine days of SF44 emphasizes emerging directors from around the globe. Guests, events, workshops, meet-ups, and of course parties, make it up. We'll show anywhere fro 20 50 40 features films and usually around 75 shorts.

Boston SciFi concludes with The Marathon (a.k.a., “The ‘Thon”), a 24-hour orgiastic motion picture endurance test featuring classic, new and schlock films. Think of it as BINGE VIEWING with 800 close friends. It starts at noon on the 17th and ends 24 hours later at on President’s Day holiday. And Yes Virginia, people last the entire time.

We're one of the best reviewed festivals in the world, at least that's what Film Freeway said. More importantly we've made lasting relationships with many of the filmmakers. We're industry professionals. Between the top management, there is over 100 years experience. We pride ourselves on giving individual attention (within reason). From the getting the right specs to assisting filmmakers after the festival, there is a reason why we're 44 years old.
