Selected films from the programme are also aired on BBC Arabic TV to its international, Arabic-speaking audience of 28 million people.

The festival runs as a competition. The final list of submissions will be announced in February 2017. It will be chosen by a panel of judges comprised of award-winning documentary and film makers, critics and experts from the fields of film and journalism.
