Festival Overview

MONSTRA | Lisbon Animation Festival is an event where animated film meets other media and arts, aiming to present, disseminate, experiment and discuss ideas, crossing over new artistic approaches and forms, on which animated film is the narrative and aesthetic expression. The Festival’s main goal is to present and promote the best animated films made all over the World.

MONSTRA's 18th edition will happen from March 20th to 31st 2018.

Each edition we focus on a guest country with retrospectives and curatorships of several authors on a guest country. In 2019 the guest country is Canada.

Our competitive sections are: Feature Films, Short Films, Student Short Films, Super Short Films, Short Films for Children and Youth, Series, Portuguese Short Films.

Submissions are running from June 1st to November 11th 2018.
Filmmakers with selected films will be notified via e-mail after December 26th 2018.

Festival Focus is not the festival's official submissions platform.
In order to be considered, all submissions must be entered through the festival's website www.monstrafestival.com/submissions.
