Firenze FilmCorti Festival

Wed 7th Mar 18: Pre-selections to the 5th edition of the Firenze FilmCorti Festival to be held every Friday.

Every Friday, from January until the end of May, the pre-selections of the 5th edition of the Firenze FilmCorti Festival will be held in the so-called ZAP (Zona Aromatica Protetta), in Vicolo Santa Maria Maggiore 1.

Starting at 17.00 p.m, every Friday we will screen fifteen short films directed by filmmakers coming from all over the world. Therefore, the audience will be able to get in touch with foreign and often quite unknown cultures.

In addition, every Friday the audience will be able to vote its favourite film. The culmination of the Firenze FilmCorti Festival (Florence Short Films Festival) is the awards ceremony, which will be held on the 14th, 15th and 16th of June. The film which will have gained the highest number of votes will be awarded the Audience’s Award. The Audience’s Award is one of the most prestigious rewards and it will be given, together with other special prizes, during the awards ceremony in June.

The Director of the Festival, Marino Demata, declared: “We are very proud of our Festival and of the schedule we have managed to set up. Indeed, we aren’t exclusively showing films that have reached the Finals in June, as it may be common in other festivals, but all the films entered into the competition will be shown during the Friday’s screenings.”

Moreover, it has to be underlined that some of the directors, producers and actors, who have contributed to the realisation of the films in competition, will partake in the Friday’s screenings. The audience will be given the chance to discuss with them about their works.

Submissions to the 2018 Firenze FilmCorti Festival (Florence Short Films Festival) are still opened. Filmmakers may submit their own short film until the 20th of May. We are also delighted to announce that this year our Festival will enjoy the participation of the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIIF), one of the most prestigious British Film Festivals, which will screen the films which have won the December 2017 edition.
